I
was born in 1947 (but I'm young at heart!) and lived in a small village
north of London. After my education at a grammar school I was accepted
by the Royal Air Force to train as a pilot and an officer. I started
training in 1965 and flew Hercules aircraft until 1973. I then left
the RAF and started airline flying, flying Boeings. I flew for
Britannia Airways in England, then with Kuwait Airways living in Kuwait
and finally with Royal Air Maroc living in Casablanca. On
a visit to England in 1981 I had an accident on a motorbike (not my
fault!) in which I broke my neck. This left me permanently paralysed
from the shoulders down and I have been using a wheelchair ever since.
Although I can move my arms my hands don't function and consequently I
need help with most daily activities. Soon
after I left hospital I moved to my own house in Weymouth, Dorset on
the south coast of England and employed my own personal care assistants
to help me live a full and active life. I now live in a large house
built to my own design. I
live a full and active life, looking after my house, gardening,
shopping, visiting friends, pubs etc. I'm also involved in several
charities for disabled people. I enjoy life and with the help of cheerful care assistants my home is a most enjoyable place to live and work.
